Summary
La Podrida is a card game. It has no user accounts of its own and no analytics, and we don’t sell your data. It shows Google ads when games end (never during play), which you can remove with a one-time purchase.
What you save (your profile, your progress, stats, achievements and the game in progress) stays on your device. If cloud backup is on, your progress is also saved in your iCloud and, if you’re signed in to Game Center, on our server, so you can get it back. And if you play public online games with Game Center and agree to appear in Ranked, we store the results of those games on our server.
Data stored on your device
The name and avatar you choose, your preferences (sound, vibration, language, table), your progress (gems, level and what you’ve unlocked in the shop), your stats and achievements, and any unfinished game. They are kept in the app’s storage on your device and are deleted when you uninstall it. Except as explained in "Cloud backup", they are not sent anywhere.
Cloud backup
If cloud backup is on (it’s on by default and you can turn it off in Settings), the app saves a copy of your progress: gems, experience and level, what you’ve unlocked in the shop, the look and name you’ve chosen, your preferences, and your stats and achievements from games on this device. It lets you get it back on another device or if you reinstall the app. Along with the backup, a random identifier for each device is stored, so gems earned on several devices add up correctly.
The backup is saved in your iCloud, in Apple’s key-value storage, tied to your Apple ID. It is managed by Apple and we have no access to it.
If you’re also signed in to Game Center, the backup is saved on our server too, linked to your Game Center player identifier (checked with Apple’s digital signature, as in online mode). It is only used to give you back your progress and is not shown to anyone.
You can delete it whenever you like in Settings → Cloud backup → "Delete my cloud backup": both the iCloud copy and the server copy are deleted, and cloud backup is turned off. Your progress on the device isn’t touched.
Game Center
To play online, the app uses Apple’s Game Center. When you enter online mode, iOS may ask you to sign in. The app receives from Game Center your alias (the public nickname of your Game Center account) and a player identifier specific to this app; never your email, your real name or your Apple ID.
To make sure nobody pretends to be another player, the app sends our server a digital signature generated by Apple, and the server verifies it with Apple’s public certificate.
If you don’t use Game Center, you can play online as a guest (with a name like "Guest 1234"), but your games don’t count for Ranked.
Online mode
If you play online, the app sends our server your Game Center alias (or your guest name), your Game Center player identifier, a random identifier created on your device (so you can get back to your seat if the connection drops) and your moves. Each player’s avatar is assigned at random by the server.
This data is used to make the game work and is shown only to the players in your game while it lasts.
Names containing offensive words are automatically replaced with a generic name ("Jugador").
Ranked
Only public games (random matchmaking) count; private games with a code don’t. If "Appear in Ranked" is on (in Settings) and you’re signed in to Game Center, when a public game ends we store on our server: your alias, your avatar in that game and your results (points, position, rounds made, whether you left, and date), together with a code derived irreversibly from your Game Center identifier. For Ranked, the original identifier is never stored.
This data is only used to calculate and show the Ranked leaderboard and your online stats, which anyone using the app can see (alias, avatar and stats).
You can stop appearing at any time (Settings) and delete your data from Settings ("Delete my Ranked data"): your profile card and your results are removed.
Ads
The app shows Google AdMob ads (Google Ireland Limited) only when a game ends: a banner on the final screen and, sometimes, a full-screen ad when you leave it. Never during a game, in the tutorial or in your first games. Also, if you choose to, you can watch an ad in exchange for gems.
To show them, Google’s SDK may collect device data (such as the advertising identifier, the IP address from which it infers your approximate location, the model and the system version) and data about your interaction with ads. Google processes it under its policy: https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland we ask for your consent with Google’s form before showing personalised ads. You can refuse as easily as you can accept: you’ll still see ads, but not personalised ones. You can change or withdraw your choice whenever you like in Settings → "Ad privacy".
On iPhone, the advertising identifier is only used if you allow it in the iOS prompt ("Allow the app to track your activity"). You can change this in iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Ads are suitable for all audiences. No data about your games, your progress, your stats or Ranked is shared with Google.
"Remove ads" purchase
It is a one-time payment handled by Apple through the App Store: we don’t see your payment details. The app only stores on your device that the purchase has been made. You can recover it on another device with "Restore purchases" (Settings).
Children
The app doesn’t ask for personal data and is suitable for all ages. In online mode and in Ranked only your Game Center alias is shown. If Game Center parental controls don’t allow multiplayer games, the app doesn’t let you play online.
Your rights
You can delete the data stored on your device by uninstalling the app, and your cloud backup and your Ranked data from within the app (Settings). For any privacy question, or to exercise your rights of access, rectification or erasure under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), write to us at the contact email.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will publish the new version on this same page and in the app, with its update date.
